John Jonas Photography

"Raised, mostly, in the back-country of NE Iowa where I learned to appreciate nature, not really by choice, but because of lack of transportation to get to town and hang with friends. I would take endless walks, build forts, and roam the river bluffs.  Photography came later, and because of my youth experiences, all things wild have always been my favorite subjects."

“Netting Whitefish on Namakan” with Alan Burchell

Speaking from a standpoint of netting experience since 1956, and only the whitefish since 1983, on Lake Kabetogama.

Alan Burchell shares his experiences on the MN Whitefish netting season, a main three-week window from last week of October through two weeks of November. This is not wimpy summertime fishing weather. The only others out on the lake are a few muskie thrashers and few duck hunters. Netting is a tough sport.
